If you are really reading this, I guess you have moved past the stages of having to hide your feelings and now in a relationship but looking forward on how not to mess it up with the common mistakes people make when they are in a relationship.
1. WANTING PERFECTION.
Trying to get your partner to be a perfect match for you ruins the relationship. We are human, and we are bound to make mistakes, so don’t always expect too much from your partner. Just be humans and try not to always make mistakes.
2. DON’T AVOID CONFRONTATION.
Bad communication kills a relationship faster than any other. When problems arise, fighting is not always the way out and not talking about an incident that made you feel uncomfortable is not the best too. Talking about things that bothers your mind about your partner and other things is the best way to get the best out of a relationship. Do not brush things away as it piles up and explode one day.
3. TRYING TO CHANGE YOUR PARTNER.
Most people will try to change their partners after they are already in a relationship. I believe you should have to get to know the person you want to be in a relationship with before jumping into it. Everyone is a unique being and psychologically, we are often drawn to people that are completely opposite to us and by that, we often think and try to re-shape them.
You’ve got to remember why you fell in love with that person in the first place, changing them is not the best option.
4. FIGHTING OVER EVERYTHING, EVEN LITTLE.
This often happens when the relationship is months old. Do not take everything personal and fight over every little thing. Highlight what’s happening at that moment and think if its worth an argument. Turn arguments to jokes and laugh it off.
5. KEEPING SECRETS
This is a part of communication too, keeping secrets from the person you claim you love goes a very long way to ruining relationships that are beginning to make sense. I am not saying you should tell your partner every single details about how you move around with your daily activities in every minute. Tell your partner that very thing you’re keeping away from him/her.
If you don’t spit it out, it will make things worse, and It will come out eventually and sooner is always better than later.
