Governor Hyacinth Alia has assured the people of Benue state that his government will not stand idly by while bandits wreak havoc on communities. During his visit to communities in Kwande Local Government Area, he pledged to tackle the security challenges in the state effectively.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Sam Ode, Governor Alia delivered relief materials to victims of attacks by armed herdsmen in various communities. He announced plans to establish a military post in Abaji town to prevent further attacks in that area and directed the deployment of more personnel to reinforce security.
The Governor also disclosed plans to commence boundary demarcation between Benue, Taraba, Cameroon, Ebonyi, and Nasarawa states next month as a non-kinetic approach to addressing insecurity. This measure aims to enhance security coordination and control in the region.

Meanwhile, Benue Police Commissioner Emmanuel Adesina reported recent successes in combating banditry, including the neutralization of two bandits and the recovery of weapons.
Ter Kwande, Chief Timothy Ahire, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s visit but lamented the adverse effects of attacks on local markets. He highlighted the decline in patronage due to security concerns.
