The head of Coach of Atletico Madrid football club, Diego Simeone has responded to Liverpool critics after his side won the last match against the EPL giant.
ATM won their last champions league match which saw them qualify for the next round (Quater final) after winning with an early goal from Saul Niguez (1-0) against Liverpool in their home in the first leg of round 16.
Atletico Madrid qualified for the quarter-final with a win of 4-2 over Liverpool. The substitutions that Simeone made did the turn around for him, with Marco Llorente coming in first and then Alvaro Morata who provided an assist for Llorente who scored a brace before scoring a late time goal that Liverpool couldn’t recover from.
In response to the critics, he said;
“Football is like boxing because you have to know when it’s time to attack,” Simeone told AS.
“At Atletico, we know the virtues we have as a team. The example is when we played against Liverpool in the Champions League, a tremendous team, we knew that we could hurt them.
“When they talk about how we were lucky, I think of a team that lost 2-0 and scored three goals.
“That’s not luck. The games must be valued as a whole.”
Don’t skip it, here is the comments Liverpool boss gave after the match, Klopp said;
“I don’t understand with the quality they have that they play this kind of football. I don’t understand that.
“When I see players like Llorente, Koke, and Saul, they could play proper football, but they stayed deep in their half and have counter-attacks.”
