Police officers from the Lagos State Gender Section have detained Kehinde Adeleke, 62, and his 19-year-old son, Ayomide, for allegedly g@ng-r@p!ng his biological daughter.
The girl is identified as Ayomide’s biological sister, and who later became pregnant.
According to P.M.EXPRESS, the incident took place on Enelu Danisa Street in Lagos’ Ijeshatedo neighborhood, where they live.
Following the medical examination, which revealed that the victim was pregnant, and the inability to determine who between her father and the brother was actually responsible, the victim’s condition deteriorated significantly after the suspects were taken into custody.
The girl’s biological brother Ayomide and the guy, Kehinde, allegedly planned to have an affair with her and kept it a secret until the victim fell pregnant. She then started to talk and explained what had transpired.
They were detained and sent to the Gender Section of the Police Command for additional investigation after the incident was reported to the local police.
Following extensive questioning, the police determined that they were guilty and filed charges against them in the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offense, which carries a potential sentence of life in prison if convicted.
However, the prosecution, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, made a motion requesting the court to send the case to the DPP for guidance as the claimed offense was a capital charge, therefore the court did not accept their plea when they were arraigned.
The prosecutor was instructed to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered their remand in custody at the Kirikiri Town Correctional Centre in Lagos without the option of bail pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
The case was postponed until December 20, 2022, to allow for the completion of the DPP’s advice report, which will determine whether or not the case will be transferred.
