The House of Representatives has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to allow the reopening of Airports.
The House of Rep on Tuesday said the reopening of Airport will only be per geopolitical zone, this was said after the motion of urgent public importance which was moved by Muhammed Monguno on Tuesday during plenary.
It was reported that the Federal government has the plan of reopening the Airport in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt only which will be the gradual easing of the COVID-19 restriction in Nigeria.
The reopening of Airports have the airports in Lagos, Abuja, and PH have not been ordered and that was why Mugono pushed the motion to the house before they are opened.
He said;
“most other countries have maintained local flights for essential services.”
“shut down of the airport will affect businesses and lead to more unemployment.”
“Several airlines have been laying down workers due to lack of business as a result of the shutdown of the airports. The lack of airports is making traveling difficult due to bad roads”
