The popular Nigerian media expert, Toyosi Godwin took to his social media (Twitter) to share how the arrest of the Yahoo Boy and Wire Wire expert who is known as HushPuppi has affected young legit online workers and Business owners in Nigerians.
Toyosi Godwin with his handle @ToyosiGodwin on Twitter reacting to the arrest of HussPuppi by Interpool said the arrest has made business owners lose foreign deals and clients. He added that he knows a man who has lost five clients after the arrest.
He added that his Canada application was rejected and he might be because of the kind of image most Nigerians have portrayed in foreign countries which have made most Nigerians appear has fraudulent people which is not supposed to be so.
He also said most online Nigerian freelancers now use VPN to get jobs on freelance platforms because they won’t get with a Nigerian address.
Toyosi said in statement that;
“They have dented our image big time. Nigerians are no longer trusted to handle huge amount”, he said.
“Now you not only have to fight racism. You have to fight the stigma of being seen as a fraudster”
