A committee has been created by the Governor of Borno state, Governor Babagana Zulum to thoroughly investigate the state of the index case of COVID-19 in the Borno state.
The new committee was created on Thursday at the Government House and have been told to kick off.
According to a report on DAILY POST, Governor Babagana Zulum has given the investigation team just 3 weeks to give a report of the index case of COVID-19 to know if the index cases are related to the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

In a statement by Babagana, he said;
“The first COVID-19 case was recorded in Pulka town in Gwoza Local Government area.
“It was when a local staff of Medicine Sans Frontier, otherwise known as Doctors without Borders, manifested the symptoms and was brought to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) for treatment.

“The committee would investigate the emergence of the first confirmed case, considering the fact that the affected person had no record of recent travels or contact with people who had tested positive.
“The findings by the committee would enable us to determine the culpability or otherwise of any individual, group, or organization, directly or indirectly involved in the emergence of the virus.
“They would assess the activities and interactions of the victim with his colleagues and relatives between the time he started manifesting the symptoms and the time he was brought to UMTH.”
