Kobe Bryant was in a partnership deal with The Mamba Sports Academy in 2018 which he got very involved in and the saddest thing was that he was on his way there with his daughter when they had an accident which led to their death and seven others, and now his nickname “Mamba” is being removed to honour him.
According to the Sports Academy founder and CEO Chad Faulkner, he explained that the academy will make a change of name to its academy in order to pay respect to the Basketball Legend, Kobe.
He said in an interview with ESPN;

“Today, with respect for an unparalleled legacy, the Academy will retire the ‘Mamba’ in the Mamba Sports Academy name — to raise it to the rafters, where it belongs,”
“Our beliefs and thoughts are Kobe is one of one. ‘Mamba’ is one of one.”
“And with that as we carry on as The Sports Academy, it’s more appropriate to put Kobe in another Hall of Fame, if you will, and to really respect a legacy that is really unrivaled, frankly, and let that live on its own. We will continue to do the work we do.”
“We were fortunate to learn from Kobe. We will carry on much of those learnings that we have in a respectful way.”
This report has me confused because i’m a fan of Kobe and removing his name to honour him…
Well, the Sports Academy has already made changes to its website domain name and other necessary info that has the name “Mamba Sports Academy”.
