The FGN through NCDC has specified the usage of some drugs and also removed some drugs that are not needed or irrelevant in the treatment of Coronavirus/COVID-19 in the country.
In NCDC new guideline which aims at the reopening of some businesses, religion worship places and the treatment of the disease caused by Coronavirus at home, they said the antiviral drugs have been removed in the treatment of the disease.
In the presidential task-force on COVID-19 short press brief on Thursday, the NCDC Director-General, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, made the new adjustment to the guideline.

He said;
“We have removed the use of antivirals from our treatment guidelines.
“One that was in our guidelines recently was the lopinavir/ritonavir combination, which is a combination of medicines we use for HIV.

“There have been quite a number of studies now that have shown that they don’t really improve the outcome of this illness, so we’ve withdrawn them from the guidelines of management.”
