A pastor in Ondo state, Kolawole Samson has been sentenced to death by hanging after he was found guilty of killing a young man identified as Ayo Olaniyi.
Ondo State High Court sentenced Mr. Kolawole to death after an investigation showed that he attacked Ayo for hunting frogs at his fish pond at Gberinlegi Village near the Okeigbo area of Ile-Oluji/Okegbo Local Government Area of the state in March 2016.
It was reported that the cleric man injured the young man on his head with a cutlass which led to the death of Ayo Olaniyi at the hospital where he battled for his life and gave up the ghost.
The prosecution attorneys argued that Kolawole’s action on the young man was contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Laws of Ondo State (2006).
Though the Pastor pleaded not guilty, Justice Ademola Bola who ruled on the case stated that all evidence presented before the court showed that he was guilty of killing Olaniyi.
