President Buhari eases lockdown in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, reveals start date

President Muhammadu Buhari has announced that the lockdown in Lagos and Ogun States as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja will be eased starting from May 4.

This was annoucement was made in his national broadcast Monday night.

Buhari, in his explanation, said recommendations have been carefully studied.

The president stated that he also took into consideration the position of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) on ease of the lockdown.

He said, “In line with the recommendations of the Presidential Task Force on COVID nineteen, the various Federal Government committees that have reviewed socio-economic matters and the Nigeria Governors Forum, I have approved for a phased and gradual easing of lockdown measures in FCT, Lagos and Ogun States effective from May 4, 2020.”

Nigeria currently has 1273 cases and has recorded 40 deaths with 239 discharged.
