There have been recent reports that Peter Obi, a candidate in the recent Nigerian presidential election, has been subjected to intimidation and hardship.
Nigerian professor Stella Okunma recently raised the alarm on Facebook, claiming that Obi is being impersonated and harassed.
Professor Okunma recounted a conversation she had with Obi, in which he described his experience upon arriving at Heathrow Airport in London on Friday, April 7th, 2023. Obi reportedly told Okunma that he was stopped and questioned for a prolonged period of time by immigration officers, who eventually issued him a detention notice.
After an investigation, an immigration officer informed Obi that his identity had been duplicated, meaning that someone else is living under his name. Professor Okunma expressed shock at these events and shared her concerns on social media.
The incident occurred after Obi attended the official opening of a specialist hospital in Nkpor, which was hosted by the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) sisters. It is clear that this situation is causing great distress for Obi and his supporters, and it is important that action is taken to address these issues.
