The world health organization regional office in Congo has stated that there needs to be access to water at all times in Africa in fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The access to water would make washing of hands at all times easy and toilets, handwashing facilities in public places and health care Centres must be on point in order to fight the virus in Africa.

According to WHO statistics, 395 million people in Africa do not have access to clean water in 2017 and about 704 million did not have access to good sanitization services in different regions in Africa and that might make fighting the COVID-19 difficult if the problem is still the same.

A tweet by the UN health agency for Africa says;

“This gap must be urgently addressed.

“Access to safe drinking water, toilets and hand-washing facilities in health facilities must be scaled-up to fight COVID19, particularly in remote areas.

“Urgent government commitment, investment and resources are urgently needed to improve access to vital services,’’

They also confirmed that Mozambique had confirmed its first case in the country making it obvious that Africa is beginning to lose its control over the virus as it is penetrating countries that had no cases before.

And according to WHO;

“This is the 3rd lusophone country affected by the virus in Africa.

“WHO and health partners have been already implementing prevention measures to avoid the spread of the virus’’

Kenya has also confirmed 8 more cases of the pandemic as they grow to 15 and according to WHO;

“WHO experts have supported the training of hospitals in Nairobi to handle cases safely and control the spread of the virus.’’

The virus which causes the diseases known as the COVID-19 has spread to 36 countries out of 54 in Africa, and 169 countries in total. Statistic says there are 312,000 confirmed coronavirus cases across the world with 13,400 people dead from the virus and the disease it causes, while 94,000 have recovered from the virus.
