Real Madrid has announced their squad for the match against Real Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey which is the 16th round of the cup tournament. Zaragoza might be tough for the white because of their current form in the first division league and they are 70% sure of getting promoted to the Liga Santander next season.
Gareth bale is yet to recover from injury, so the formation on the front will be Benzema or Luca Jovic, Vinicius and Rodrygo, while in the middle, Valverde will be featured to play in place of Casemiro as a defensive midfielder as Zidane did not include him in the round 16 squad on Wednesday alongside Isco.
The defends will have Ramos on board with Carvajal, Mendy, and Varane, while Marcelo is to stay on the bench for half-time sub for Mendy as he has proven to have more defensive pattern than the defensive attacker of the century, Marcelo, and Eder Milatao is also set to miss the match as he will remain in Madrid.
Here is the full man squad Zidane will be taking with him on Wednesday for the Copa del Rey round of 16;
Goalkeepers: Areola, Courtois, and Altube
Defenders: Ramos, Varane, Mendy, Nacho, Dani Carvajal and Marcelo Viera
Left out: Militao
Midfielders: Luca Modric, Federico Valverde, James, and Toni Kross
Left out: Casemiro, Isco
Attackers: Luca Jovic, Lucas Vasquez, Benzema, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz
Likely formation to be used;
4-3-3
Keeper: Thibaut Courtois
Keeper: Thibaut Courtois
Defends: Dani Carvajal, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos, and Ferland Mendy
Defenders: Ramos, Varane, Mendy, Nacho, Dani Carvajal and Marcelo Veira
Midfielders: Luca Modric, Federico Valverde, James, and Toni Kross
Forward: Rodrygo Goes (right) Luca Jovic (strike) and Vinicius Jr (left)
This game in my respective opinion is not to be taken lightly as the form of the Zaragoza is not to be overlooked in the First Division with 42 points and in the top 4.
